Builders such as soda ash and STPP soften water so the surfactant can work. Fillers and alkalis such as sodium sulphate and caustic soda complete the formula and set its pH.

C₁₈H₃₀O₃S
The main anionic surfactant in detergent powders and cakes. After neutralisation it gives strong cleaning and foaming at low cost.
Typically 96% minimum active matter.
210–235 kg HDPE drums or IBC tanks.
C₁₂H₂₅(OCH₂CH₂)ₙOSO₃Na
A mild, high-foaming anionic surfactant supplied as a thick paste. It is easy to formulate into clear liquids.
70% paste (2 EO); 28% liquid on request.
160–170 kg HDPE drums.
NaOH
Sodium hydroxide, the strong alkali used to saponify oils into soap and to neutralise LABSA in detergent making.
Flakes and pearls, typically 98–99% NaOH.
25 kg or 50 kg bags.
Na₂CO₃
The bulk builder and alkali in detergent powders. It softens water and boosts cleaning power.
Light and dense grades, typically 99% Na₂CO₃.
50 kg bags or jumbo bags.
Na₅P₃O₁₀
A high-performance builder that binds calcium and magnesium, keeps dirt suspended and improves washing in hard water.
Technical grade, typically 94% minimum; food grade on request.
25 kg or 50 kg bags.
Na₂SO₄
A free-flowing filler that gives detergent powders their bulk and keeps them from caking.
Typically 99% Na₂SO₄, neutral pH.
50 kg bags.
Na₂O·nSiO₂
Water glass. It protects washing machines and fabrics from corrosion and adds alkalinity and binding to detergent powders.
